February 26, 2015 - With the resurgence in America’s energy industry and continued energy growth anticipated in Latin America, Liberty International Underwriters (LIU), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance, has added five risk engineers to its U.S. and Latin America risk engineering team to focus on energy-related opportunities and civil construction projects.

The additional risk engineering team members are:

  • Miami-based Leonardo Garzon and Jose Segnini for Latin America
  • New York-based Rickey Johnson for the U.S.
  • Houston-based Paul Hampshire, both for the U.S. and Latin America Civil Construction
  • Houston-based Scott Kelley for the U.S.

“With many critical issues in energy impacting construction and vice versa, we wanted to provide brokers with a more holistic approach to risk mitigation where one team handles all first party property risks,” said Timothy Kania, senior vice president of LIU Energy and Construction.  “By strengthening our risk engineering team, LIU maximizes its expertise to provide brokers an integrated resource allowing for delivery of comprehensive risk engineering services to meet the complex energy-related opportunities and civil construction needs of their customers.”

The energy-construction risk engineer team joins LIU’s existing energy and construction operations in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami and New York, which offer creative cross-class response through seamless products, policy cover, and services.  As part of the LIU Team 360 approach to service, risk engineers work closely with underwriters and claims managers in dedicated client teams.

Liberty International Underwriters, part of the Global Specialty lines division of Liberty Mutual Insurance, distributes exclusively through the independent broker network in its thirty worldwide offices.  Brokers can contact Timothy Kania to learn more about LIU’s Energy & Construction capabilities, timothy.kania@libertyiu.com, 212-208-9554.
