Nearly 400 Claims Specialists and Adjusters Mobilized to Support Customers; Two Mobile Claims Units Located in the Region to Expedite Claims
To help customers promptly and safely recover from the devastating damage of Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have sent teams of nearly 400 property and auto claims experts to the area to handle claims, with approximately 2,000 specialists available by telephone to assist customers. To further facilitate quick customer response, the companies have set up a temporary home and auto claims mobile units at the Memorial City Mall in Houston, and at The Woodlands Mall in The Woodlands.
“Helping our customers in their time of greatest need is our first priority, and we have a deep roster of nearly 2,400 claims experts on the ground and by telephone available to ensure that we are responding as promptly as possible to everyone who has experienced a loss from this storm,” said Michael Fiato, chief claims officer, Liberty Mutual U.S. Consumer Markets. “Once safe to do so, customers should reach out to us by phone, internet, mobile applications, through their agent, or at our response vehicle locations with their claims or questions.”
Home and auto insurance customers are encouraged to report their claims 24 hours a day by calling these numbers or going online:
- Liberty Mutual Insurance: online at LibertyMutual.com/claims, through the Liberty Mutual Mobile App or by phone at 1-800-2-CLAIMS (1-800-225-2467). Customers can also start a property claim through their Amazon Alexa enabled device
- Safeco Insurance: 1-800-332-3226, or their local independent agent.
Liberty Mutual and Safeco claims representatives also will report flood claims to the National Flood Insurance Program on their customers’ behalf.
Homeowners can meet with Liberty Mutual or Safeco catastrophe specialists at the mobile claims units in Houston and The Woodlands from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT, Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays to discuss their claims, obtain policy information, and in some cases get initial claims payments for covered losses or receive advances to cover anticipated out-of-pocket costs such as food, clothing, housing and personal items.
