Liberty Mutual is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Schechter as executive vice president, Commercial Insurance and president, Liberty Mutual Benefits.
Schechter will lead Liberty Mutual Benefits, which offers a suite of employee benefits products and services, including disability, life, voluntary and absence management, along with individual life and annuity products. Liberty Mutual Benefits’ employer segment - which earned $1.4 billion in employee benefits revenue, covered more than 3 million lives and had a 95 percent customer retention rate in 2015 - is the fastest growing group life and disability carrier, according to Gen Re Group Market Survey. Its individual segment is the leader in the bank life insurance market, according to first quarter 2016 data from LIMRA.
Schechter joined Liberty Mutual Benefits in July, 2015 as senior vice president and general manager, Liberty Mutual Benefits Distribution. Over the past year, she has played an integral role in building the sales and service organizations to effectively grow the business.
Schechter has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and is well-versed in technology, operations and growing businesses. Prior to joining Liberty, she held a number of senior roles, most recently as senior vice president in institutional investor servicing at State Street Corporation.
“Rebecca’s record of success at Liberty and her broad perspective from senior roles outside of the insurance industry will help her continue Liberty Mutual Benefits’ growth as a leading benefits carrier with a comprehensive suite of innovative products, superior customer-facing service and best-in-class technology,” notes Paul Condrin, president, Liberty Mutual Commercial Insurance.
