Charity Series Tees-Off 2014 Slate of 75 Events April 28
April 16, 2014 - Kent Therkelson, Stacey Hord and Donn Raymond of Omaha, Neb., along with Tom Franke of Orlando, Fla., recently won the Liberty Mutual Invitational National Championship at Pinehurst Resort. The winners shot a final round 62 on Course No. 2, site of the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open.
The March 26-30 tournament was the culmination of a series of more than 70 charity golf tournaments around the country in 2013 hosted by Liberty Mutual and local and national charitable organizations that raised more than $5.6 million for charity last year and $21.7 million since its inception in 2010. The foursome qualified for the national finals by winning a local Invitational event at the National Golf Club of Kansas City (Mo.), where they competed in support of The Lockett-Up Foundation’s Read and Achieve program.
“We congratulate our winners as well as each of our 240 participants for their personal achievement on the course, and for helping Liberty Mutual raise more than $5.6 million for charities in their communities and around the nation,” said Paul Alexander, Liberty Mutual Insurance chief communications officer.
The 2014 Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational will tee off with its first of 75 local tournaments on April 28 at the Smoke Rise Country Club in Stone Mountain, Ga., to benefit the American Parkinson’s Disease Association. The winners of each local event will qualify for the National Finals to be played February 25-March 1, 2015, at TPC Sawgrass Resort in Florida.
