Today Liberty Mutual Insurance received the Platinum Award from the 2018 Step Two Intranet and Digital Awards for the company’s digital assistant which simplifies an employee’s day by managing to-do lists, notifications, approvals, workflows, messaging and social media in a single, modern, intelligent and intuitive interface.  Now in their twelfth year, the Step Two global awards recognize outstanding contributions to the fields of intranets and digital workplaces. The awards uncover remarkable solutions from small non-profits and government agencies to global firms and household names that deliver business value, and shares these solutions with the wider community.

“The Platinum Award is given to the single most impressive submission we receive, and our judges agreed what Liberty has done with the digital assistant is very special,” said Steve Bynghall, Manager, Intranet & Digital Workplace Awards, Step Two. “Liberty’s entry picked up the highest score out of any entry this year. Congratulations on this achievement!”

When the digital assistant project started, Liberty Mutual sought to improve the employee experience. The goal was to provide employees with a best-in-class digital work environment where their technical interactions at work were as personalized, timely, and intuitive as in their everyday lives.  Throughout its evolution, the digital assistant tool has expanded to include a chatbot and leverage intelligent technologies such as AI to deliver highly personalized experiences at scale on a contextual basis.

“It is an honor to receive this award from Step Two for our digital assistant tool that puts employees most important tasks, information and notification at their fingertips,” said James McGlennon, Liberty Mutual Insurance Chief Information Officer.  “We strive to provide an environment that employees enjoy and one that makes their jobs easier, allowing them to focus on doing their very best for our customers.  Receiving this recognition underscores that we are moving in the right direction.”

Liberty Mutual’s digital assistant was so successful with its employees that the company recently launched Workgrid Software, LLC – a wholly-owned company – to bring the Workgrid Assistant to other companies to help them simplify the day for employees.
