Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for taking the time to consider employment with Liberty Mutual. We understand that you may have questions about our process or our on-line tools. The majority of inquiries we receive are regarding the topics listed below.

Account and Login Inquiries:

If your account is locked and your password has to be reset, and you have a current account, your account should unlock automatically after several minutes. If you do not recall your login credentials, please use the appropriate 'Forgot Your...' link on the login page rather than attempting several usernames/passwords. Too many attempts will result in locking your account after 10 tries. You will receive an email with a new access code that will allow you to log into your profile.

If you are a Liberty Mutual employee and you are having trouble signing on, please make sure you are using the "Current Liberty Mutual Employee" link on the Careers website.


Assessment Inquiries:

If you are not able to complete the pre-hire assessment, please email using the subject line "Assessment Completion" to locate the correct contact information.

If you are attempting to complete the assessment on a mobile device/ tablet and you receive an error, please instead access a computer/ PC desktop to complete the assessment portion of the application.


Application Inquiries:

If you are checking the status of your application, please be aware that due to the high volume of submissions, we are not able to respond personally to every candidate. If we feel your experience could be a fit, you will be contacted at the phone number or email address you have provided in your profile. At that time, you will have the opportunity to discuss the position in more detail and ask any questions you may have that are specific to the position for which you applied. To view general status updates regarding your application visit the appropriate careers website, Graduate/Undergraduate or Experienced. Begin by signing-in and navigate to the “My Job Page” tab. Next, click on “My Submissions”. You will be able to view the status of your application next to the “Submission Status” section.

Submission Status Definitions:

  • Application submitted: Your application has been submitted for review.
  • Application Incomplete- Additional Information needed: Your application is not fully complete, please log-in and review your application and provide any missing information.
  • Application under review: Your application is currently under consideration.
  • No longer under consideration: Unfortunately we have decided to move forward with other applicants for this particular job posting.
  • Awaiting candidate response: We have reached out to you via email or voicemail and are awaiting your response.
  • N/A: A status update is not available at this time.

If you are having difficulty submitting your resume, do not email us your resume. It will not be seen by a recruiter unless you have attached it to a profile you have created online. Please ensure that your pop-up blockers have been disabled and that any documents are closed before trying to upload your resume. If you still have difficulty you may want to clear your internet temporary files and cookies and re-launch your browser before attempting to resubmit your file.

If you have attachments to upload, please note a single attachment cannot exceed the size of 250kb. You may have up to five attachments uploaded to your profile at a time.

If you are attempting to upload a resume using a mobile device. You will have the option to “select the resume file to upload” and you will be prompted to select from a cloud storage provider, where you may have your resume file stored (e.g. iCloud, Microsoft One Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.).  Mobile file uploads are supported on devices running iOS 9 and Android. If you do not have your resume on a cloud storage provider you can continue with the application and input your information manually. You can then go back to your application via a desktop or laptop and download your resume to your application. 

Why did I receive an email asking me to complete my application after I applied using a Mobile device? You are receiving this message because additional information is required within the application. You will need to complete your application from a desktop or laptop device.  Mobile and tablet devices are not fully compatible. Please review and complete additional fields and/or assessments required as part of the application process. 

If you haven't heard from anyone or received a confirmation for your application, check your Spam or Junk email folders to see if any messages have been sent there due to your current settings. All candidates receive an email confirming the submission to an opening once an application is completed and submitted (not saved as a draft). Due to the volume of applicants it may take some time before all applications are reviewed and good matches are contacted. We value your interest in Liberty Mutual and will contact you as soon as possible if you are being considered for an interview.

If you would like to view or apply for positions, please access our Careers page. You can view a list of our open positions, including internships, and submit your resume online for any opportunities in which you have interest. We suggest that you create a profile and keep it up to date to apply more easily as new opportunities become available in the future. You can also create a customized search for open positions that meet your interests and qualifications, and you will be notified by email when new positions open that match your criteria. If you would like to submit your resume without applying for a specific position, upload your resume into our database by attaching it to your profile. Our recruiters frequently scan the database for submission as new positions open. Should a position open that we feel you would be a good match for, you will be notified by email.

If you wish to know how much a job pays before you apply, in many cases the salary will be posted with the job description. Liberty Mutual Insurance knows that talented individuals are in great demand and offers highly competitive salaries and benefits. Salaries are commensurate with experience and the market wages in your part of the country.

If your inquiry is concerning an employee referral, and you are a Liberty Mutual employee - you must access the internal job postings site. If the position is referral eligible, there will be a 'Refer a Friend' link to the right of the job description. The referring employee need only provide the applicant's contact information. The applicant will be requested to provide his or her resume directly.

If you are encountering an error message that keeps you from proceeding at any point, please refer to the steps below:

Steps to Clear Cookies/Browsing History/Temporary Files (Internet Explorer 11)
1. Select Tools (via the Gear Icon) > Safety > Delete browsing history
2. Make sure to un-check Preserve Favorites website data and check both Temporary Internet Files and Cookies then click Delete.
3. You will get a confirmation at the bottom of the window once it has successfully cleared your cache and cookies.
